Starting as a fun hobby, photography quickly became a life-altering passion for me. It all began when I picked up a Sony camera, just curious to learn something new. But it wasn’t until a particular trip to Milford Sounds, New Zealand, that I captured a photo that transformed everything.

The subject? My ex-girlfriend running freely through the open fields of Milford Sounds. The sense of freedom and beauty in that moment was magical, and from that day, photography went from a playful experiment to a calling I couldn’t ignore.

The Unexpected Connection with Lena Alice from Germany 🌍

Enter Lena Alice, a talented photographer from Cologne, Germany. Lena and her crew had this creative vibe that pulled me in. She stumbled upon my photo and reached out to me just when I needed it most. I was going through a breakup and losing interest in my fashion brand – life felt heavy. But connecting with Lena felt like a divine intervention, almost as if the universe sent her at the perfect time. 🌠

Her photography tips opened a whole new world. She shared her love for shooting during the ‘blue hour’ – the magical moments after sunset but before darkness falls. The colors, emotions, and the aesthetic of that time became addictive. Soon, I realized: this wasn’t just photography; it was an art form I wanted to dedicate my life to.

From Stock Market Wins to Life’s Lessons 💰📉

Around the same time, I had another wild experience. I threw $10,000 into the stock market on a whim. Tesla’s meteoric rise skyrocketed my investment to $100,000 in just a few months. For a while, I felt invincible – I bought a Jeep Wrangler, kept some money in stocks, and thought I had it all figured out.

But life had other plans.

When I finally decided to move to Cologne and pursue photography seriously, the stock market tanked. I lost most of it, going from $89,000 to just $15,000 overnight while on a plane. It was a tough reminder that money can come and go as quickly as the tides. 🌊

Embracing Change and Starting Over in Cologne ✈️

Despite the financial setback, I remained determined. I sold my Jeep and channeled everything into my photography dream. I traveled to the U.S., Italy, and Croatia before landing in Cologne with only $4,000 to my name. When I arrived, Lena’s family welcomed me into their home, even though we had never met in person.

The warmth of that family and the connections I made in Cologne kept me going. I met Lena’s brother, who introduced me to a new friend group, including Chris, who became one of the most inspiring people I’d ever met.

Starting over wasn’t easy, but it taught me to let go of material things and immerse myself in art and culture. Moving to Cologne was more than a fresh start—it was the beginning of a new life focused on creative freedom and photography.

If there’s one thing this journey has taught me, it’s to take chances. Whether it’s chasing dreams, learning a new skill, or taking a financial leap, life’s most memorable moments often lie just outside our comfort zone. 📷✨
