📸 Discovering My Style, One Snap at a Time
I never set out to develop a specific “style” as a photographer—it simply evolved. Over time, I found myself gravitating toward certain choices, like framing, lighting, and editing techniques. It’s humbling when people recognize my photos and associate them with me; it reminds me of the journey that led me here. 🎞️
In the beginning, I was just experimenting, learning, and occasionally entering photography competitions. Feedback, especially from social media, has been my biggest teacher. Some images barely make a ripple, while others receive unexpected praise. While I admit I’m not the best at self-promotion (something I still need to work on!), I’ve learned that a few people who appreciate your work can spread the word like wildfire. 🔥
Word of Mouth Magic ✨ One of the best ways I’ve grown my following is through word of mouth. People who appreciate my approach to photography share my work, bringing new enthusiasts into the fold. I focus on creating meaningful experiences for those who join my photo tours, ensuring they leave with something valuable.
🌄 Teaching Moments & Simple Editing Techniques
When I lead a photography tour, I go beyond just taking people to breathtaking spots. I enjoy helping people understand the technical side of photography—aperture, ISO, composition, all the elements that make up the art. Some people want to explore on their own, but others are eager for guidance, and I’m always happy to provide it. At the end of each tour, if we have time, I show participants how I edit my photos, focusing on simplicity. My go-to tools are Lightroom and a bit of Ne software, and I aim to keep the editing process quick and effective. ✂️

Desaturation and Contextual Shots 🎨 Four or five years ago, I shifted from vibrant, saturated colors to a more subdued, desaturated palette. This choice lets my viewers focus on the essence of each subject, especially their expressions. The background plays a significant role too; whether it’s a village hut or a lively marketplace, these settings tell their own story. This evolution in my editing style feels like my voice in photography—a quieter, more intimate portrayal of life.
🌍 Photography Adventures in Pakistan and Afghanistan Last year, I embarked on an adventure through Pakistan and Afghanistan, delving into street photography. The people were warm and welcoming, sharing their lives with a stranger behind a lens. I loved every second of it, and this experience broadened my approach to storytelling.
This journey of finding my photographic voice is ongoing, a beautiful mix of learning, teaching, and immersing myself in every place I visit.
