There comes a moment in every athlete’s life when the dream shifts from just an aspiration to an obsession. For me, that dream was to reach the UFC. I was relentless, determined, and hungry for success. Let me take you back to where it all began…
UFC Dream: The Goal That Changed My Life
At the start of my career, my mindset was simple: Get to the UFC. That was the singular goal that occupied my mind. Nothing else mattered. It wasn’t just about being a part of it – I wanted to become a world champion, win fight after fight, and make my mark in the octagon. 🎯
But it wasn’t an easy road. I was balancing my life between college, serving tables, and training for MMA. Every day was a grind. I’d wake up at 6:00 a.m. to work out before heading to my job. Then I’d rush to serve tables through lunch, squeeze in classes, and finish off the day with intense MMA practice. Sounds exhausting, right? 😓 Add bartending at night into the mix, and I was barely getting any sleep.
This routine wasn’t just a job or a hustle. It was my ticket to the UFC. I knew that if I could push through, there’d be a chance to prove myself. This journey wasn’t without its failures, but I was prepared to face them head-on.
The Ultimate Fighter: A Long Road to Success

The Ultimate Fighter was my golden opportunity, but it didn’t come easily. I tried out three times before they finally accepted me on the third try. ✨ It’s funny to think about how many doors slammed in my face during those attempts. I remember traveling all over the country, following the UFC tryouts, only to be told “no.” Talk about expensive heartbreaks.
But, as they say, persistence pays off! Finally, I made it onto the show, reaching the runner-up spot. Not the champion, but not bad for someone who’d been denied multiple times, right? It was enough to get me into the UFC. The dream I had fought so hard for was becoming a reality. 🙌
Training with the Best: Team GSP & My Move to Florida
After securing my spot in the UFC, it was time to elevate my training. I packed my bags and moved from Springfield, Missouri, to Canada to train with the legendary Team GSP. 🇨🇦 It was a life-changing experience. However, after a stint in Canada, I eventually found my way to Greg Jackson’s camp in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
But it wasn’t Albuquerque that stole my heart. An opportunity arose to train in Florida, and I couldn’t resist. Florida vs. Albuquerque? Sunshine, beaches, and a vibrant party scene—yeah, Florida won that battle hands down. 🏖️🌴
My manager at the time was based in Florida, and I saw it as the perfect place to further my career. I’ve been here for the last 10 years, and it’s been the best decision ever. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing.
Reflecting on My UFC Career: Wins, Losses, and Everything In-Between
When I think back on my UFC career, it’s been an absolute rollercoaster. I’ve faced some of the biggest names in the sport. 💥 I’ve fought and beaten several top fighters, but I’ve also experienced losses along the way. You win some, you lose some – that’s just the nature of the game.
But each fight, whether a win or a loss, has shaped me into the fighter I am today. And now, I’m on a new path. A path that’s filled with exciting opportunities, different from where I began but just as thrilling. 🎇
This journey has taught me resilience, hard work, and the importance of never giving up, no matter how many times you get knocked down. This isn’t just a story of a UFC fighter – it’s a story of perseverance and pursuing your dreams, no matter the cost
