🚀 The Road to Growth 🚀

Hey friends! 👋 It’s Sunday, and I’m currently in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan 🌲. Yeah, you read that right. From Atlanta yesterday to here today. Quite the journey! I’ve been super busy filming content for our accelerator, and even though I haven’t done a ‘State of Syslo’ update in a while, I thought this was the perfect time to share what’s been going on.

For the last couple of months, there have been some significant internal changes within my business, and I’ve learned quite a bit about the real challenges of scaling.

🤔 Why Scaling a Business is Tough 🤔

So, here’s the deal: scaling a business isn’t just about growing bigger, faster. It’s about finding the right people and making sure everything flows smoothly. When you work with others, you quickly learn what they’re made of, and sometimes, you find out who’s truly committed and who’s just along for the ride.

For me, it’s been a journey of figuring out who’s willing to do the work, learn, and grow with the company. I used to attend masterminds and hear people talk about how difficult it is to find “good people.” Back then, I didn’t get it. Now, five years in, I totally understand. It’s tough! 😅

What I’ve found, after all these years, is that willingness often matters more than skill. You can teach someone the necessary skills, but you can’t teach someone to want to succeed.

💪 The Importance of Willingness 💪

I was chatting with a consultant yesterday about this exact thing. We both agreed: you can always work with someone who’s willing, even if they don’t have all the experience. On the flip side, someone with experience who doesn’t want to listen or help? Not so much.

This whole idea of willingness brings me back to my days working with Grant Cardone. I don’t often talk about this part of my life, but I learned so much about the importance of serving the boss’s needs. Was I perfect? Nope. But I was willing to help and learn. That willingness kept me going even after I’d experienced homelessness for two years. At that time, I just wanted to keep my job!

🤝 Being a Valuable Asset 🤝

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned? Always strive to be an asset, whether it’s in your business or someone else’s. When you offer value, you feel better about yourself and the work you’re doing. Even if you’re not at your job forever, make the most of it while you’re there. Don’t be the person who just clocks in and out. Trust me, that attitude is what separates those who succeed from those who don’t. 💡

It wasn’t easy, but I made sure I was valuable wherever I worked. I stayed late, I fixed my mistakes, and I didn’t ask for anything extra in return. That work ethic paid off in the long run because I didn’t just want to work 9-to-5 — I wanted to be indispensable.

Why Do I Keep Grinding? 🛫

You might be thinking, “Rob, why do you push yourself so hard?” Great question! I believe in my business and the work we’re doing. Yes, I’d love to be at the beach with my wife right now, catching waves 🌊. But the fulfillment I get from being of service to my clients and helping them grow? That’s priceless.

The travel, the sleepless nights, the sacrifices… it’s all worth it when I see the difference I’m making in someone’s business.

At the end of the day, if you can provide value to someone, you’re already ahead. The more people you help, the better your life becomes. Your quality of life improves, and so do your relationships. That’s the magic of serving others.

So, here I am, in Michigan, about to film more content tomorrow before heading home. Then it’s off to Miami and Connecticut next week. It’s a lot of planes, but it’s also a lot of growth — both for me and the business.

Final Thoughts 🌟

Being in business isn’t easy. I’ve faced betrayals and setbacks, but the key to bouncing back is showing up, even when it’s tough. Keep the passion alive, remember why you started, and always offer value to those around you. Whether you’re a filmmaker, photographer, or entrepreneur, your journey will be shaped by how much you’re willing to serve others.
