š The Road to Growth š
Hey friends! š Itās Sunday, and Iām currently in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan š². Yeah, you read that right. From Atlanta yesterday to here today. Quite the journey! Iāve been super busy filming content for our accelerator, and even though I havenāt done a āState of Sysloā update in a while, I thought this was the perfect time to share whatās been going on.
For the last couple of months, there have been some significant internal changes within my business, and Iāve learned quite a bit about the real challenges of scaling.
š¤ Why Scaling a Business is Tough š¤
So, hereās the deal: scaling a business isn’t just about growing bigger, faster. It’s about finding the right people and making sure everything flows smoothly. When you work with others, you quickly learn what theyāre made of, and sometimes, you find out whoās truly committed and whoās just along for the ride.
For me, itās been a journey of figuring out whoās willing to do the work, learn, and grow with the company. I used to attend masterminds and hear people talk about how difficult it is to find āgood people.ā Back then, I didnāt get it. Now, five years in, I totally understand. Itās tough! š
What Iāve found, after all these years, is that willingness often matters more than skill. You can teach someone the necessary skills, but you canāt teach someone to want to succeed.

šŖ The Importance of Willingness šŖ
I was chatting with a consultant yesterday about this exact thing. We both agreed: you can always work with someone whoās willing, even if they donāt have all the experience. On the flip side, someone with experience who doesnāt want to listen or help? Not so much.
This whole idea of willingness brings me back to my days working with Grant Cardone. I donāt often talk about this part of my life, but I learned so much about the importance of serving the bossās needs. Was I perfect? Nope. But I was willing to help and learn. That willingness kept me going even after Iād experienced homelessness for two years. At that time, I just wanted to keep my job!
š¤ Being a Valuable Asset š¤
One of the biggest lessons Iāve learned? Always strive to be an asset, whether itās in your business or someone elseās. When you offer value, you feel better about yourself and the work youāre doing. Even if youāre not at your job forever, make the most of it while youāre there. Donāt be the person who just clocks in and out. Trust me, that attitude is what separates those who succeed from those who donāt. š”
It wasnāt easy, but I made sure I was valuable wherever I worked. I stayed late, I fixed my mistakes, and I didnāt ask for anything extra in return. That work ethic paid off in the long run because I didnāt just want to work 9-to-5 ā I wanted to be indispensable.
Why Do I Keep Grinding? š«
You might be thinking, āRob, why do you push yourself so hard?ā Great question! I believe in my business and the work weāre doing. Yes, Iād love to be at the beach with my wife right now, catching waves š. But the fulfillment I get from being of service to my clients and helping them grow? Thatās priceless.
The travel, the sleepless nights, the sacrifices⦠itās all worth it when I see the difference Iām making in someoneās business.
At the end of the day, if you can provide value to someone, youāre already ahead. The more people you help, the better your life becomes. Your quality of life improves, and so do your relationships. Thatās the magic of serving others.
So, here I am, in Michigan, about to film more content tomorrow before heading home. Then itās off to Miami and Connecticut next week. Itās a lot of planes, but itās also a lot of growth ā both for me and the business.
Final Thoughts š
Being in business isnāt easy. Iāve faced betrayals and setbacks, but the key to bouncing back is showing up, even when itās tough. Keep the passion alive, remember why you started, and always offer value to those around you. Whether you’re a filmmaker, photographer, or entrepreneur, your journey will be shaped by how much you’re willing to serve others.
